In the same collection, the White Goose Feather Pillow is filled with care in Canada. The outer shell is made of crisp 255 thread count cotton. The pillow is filled with goose feather, which provides great support due to the feather quills. While feather pillows do have some give, they'll cradle your head more than a sinky, squishy down pillow. The Soft version is supportive but flatter, and works for front and back sleepers. The Medium version is relatively full and supportive, and works for all sleeping positions. The Firm version is quite supportive and puffy, so it's best for side sleepers.
The White Goose Feather Duvet is made with goose feather fill. Feathers have some nice heft to them, with a hard quill and soft fibers branching off the quill shaft. The shell is 233 thread count 100% cotton, which is crisp and durable. This duvet comes in All Season Weight, which works well for room temperatures around 16 - 18 degrees C or if you're fairly cool when you sleep. The shell features 4 corner loops and box construction for keeping the fill evenly distributed.
Compared to a down duvet, the main differences are: 1) Feathers consist of a hard quill shaft with fibers, while down has no quill and consists of light, fluffy filaments; 2) Down quality is measured by loft, which is not used for feather products; 3) Down has excellent insulating properties, so down duvets are quite light, whereas feather doesn't have the same insulating properties, so feather duvets are heavier; 4) Down is a scarcer, higher-performance material, so it is far more expensive than feather.
Thread count refers to the number of threads per square inch of fabric. A minimum of 233 thread count is important to prevent fill leakage. Lower thread counts are more durable and affordable, but tend to make some rustling noise, while higher thread counts are softer, quieter, and more expensive.
